Several Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) Partners have announced they are collaborating on EcoLumina, the showcase home for the 2008 Southern Building Show, to be held June 11-13 in Atlanta, Georgia.
PATH Manufacturer Partners participating in the project include Icynene, Superior Walls, Vanguard and WaterFurnance. The home is being constructed by PATH Partner Hoots Group Inc., while PATH Partner Seville Consulting is the organizer.
Located in the new city of Sandy Springs just outside Atlanta, the high-performance EcoLumina home will incorporate a variety of green building and energy efficient features, allowing it to serve as an educational tool for building professionals as well as consumers.
Some of the core PATH-profiled technologies planned for EcoLumina include: insulated and sealed basement foundation, high-performance insulation and air sealing, advanced structural framing, geothermal HVAC, tankless and solar water heating, photovoltaics, greywater reuse, and energy-efficient lighting linked to the home automation system.
Once completed, EcoLumina will be certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the green building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
