EcoLumina, the 2008 Southern Building Showcase Home, displays the latest techniques and products employed in green building. This project by The Hoots Group, a sustainable builder and remodeler, demonstrates how builders can provide these benefits cost effectively without making aesthetic compromises.

The design and construction of EcoLumina was guided by the four tenets of green building: energy efficiency, resource efficiency, healthy indoor air and durable construction. Each element was considered in relation to how it would contribute to each of the four principals and the house as a whole. Options were reviewed and decisions made based on how each would work within the overall system, the homeowners’ expected payback on their investment, and product reliability.
